Upbeat are winners of the Puisano Live Music 2009 (one of two winning bands). Upbeat is made of four members from the Vaal who have all studied together. It was not long before this quartet was playing at corporate functions – their commitment and skill was paying off. They have shared the stage which the likes of Tlale Makhene, and performed for Sedibeng Mayor (District Address), Emfuleni Municipality and the Ministry of the Presidency. Their popularity in and around Joburg jazz venues is also growing where they’re gathering a strong and faithful following. Their 2010 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz appearance is sure to see it growing further.
