Dee Dee BridgewaterOver the course of a multifaceted career that has spanned four decades, Grammy and Tony Award-winning jazz diva Dee Dee Bridgewater has risen to the top tier of today’s vocalists, putting her own unique spin on standards as well as taking intrepid leaps of faith in re-envisioning jazz classics. She is host of National Public Radio's syndicated radio show JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater. She is a United Nations Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization. Her 1997 tribute album Dear Ella won her the 1998 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocal(s) for the song Cotton Tail. Bridgewater is the first American to be inducted to the Haut Conseil de la Francophonie. She has received the Award of Arts and Letters in France. She also won the 1975 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in The Wiz.
